What is ME/CFS?

ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) is a complex illness affecting multiple systems of the body and, in particular, the nervous and immune systems.

ME/CFS has many symptoms, made worse by physical and mental activity beyond personal limits and recuperation after exertion is prolonged.

ME/CFS can be severely debilitating, disrupting significantly the lives of those affected.

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis is classified as a neurological disorder in the World Health Organisation’s International Classification of Diseases (ICD 10 G93.3).

ME/CFS Australia is an affiliation of state ME/CFS societies. It operates at the national level, approaching ME/CFS issues from the national perspective.

ME/CFS Australia strives to act as a catalyst for improving the health and well-being of all Australians with ME/CFS.
